How to Fix E42 Error (Step-by-Step)
- Disconnect the refrigerator from the wall outlet to ensure your safety by cutting off all electrical power.
- Locate the door lock assembly, which is typically found on the refrigerator body where the door latches shut.
- Remove any plastic covers that may be hiding the lock mechanism and its mounting screws.
- Unscrew the two screws holding the faulty lock in place.
- Gently pull the lock out and carefully disconnect the single wire harness attached to it.
- Connect the wire harness to the new door lock (Part No. 5304449038) and position the new lock.
- Secure the new lock with the mounting screws and replace the cover. Restore power and test the door.
- Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
