How to Fix E11 Error (Step-by-Step)

  1. Unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet or turn off its circuit breaker for safety.
  2. Locate the damper control assembly. It is usually found at the top of the fresh food compartment, behind a light cover or a panel where cold air enters from the freezer.
  3. Remove any screws holding the cover in place. You may also need to release some plastic clips with a flathead screwdriver.
  4. Carefully disconnect the wire harness attached to the old damper assembly. Take a picture with your phone to remember how it connects.
  5. Remove the old damper assembly. It might be held by a few more screws or simply snap out of place.
  6. Install the new damper assembly (part #242115233), ensuring it is seated correctly. Reconnect the wire harness.
  7. Reinstall the cover panel and any screws. Plug the refrigerator back in or turn on the power. The error should clear.
  8. Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
