How to Fix DE Error (Step-by-Step)

  1. This code indicates the refrigerator is in ‘Demonstration’ or ‘Showroom’ mode, where the lights work but the cooling system is off.
  2. On the front control panel, press and hold both the ‘Freezer Temperature Up’ and ‘Freezer Temperature Down’ buttons at the same time.
  3. Continue holding the buttons for 5 to 10 seconds until you hear a chime or the display flashes.
  4. The ‘DE’ code should disappear, and you should hear the compressor and fans start to run within a few moments.
  5. Open the refrigerator door and locate the small plunger or magnetic switch that detects when the door is closed. Press it in and out a few times to make sure it is not stuck, as a faulty switch can sometimes trigger this mode.
  6. If the button combination does not work, try unplugging the refrigerator for 5 minutes to reset the main control board, then try the button combination again.
  7. Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
