⚠️ Safety Warning: Appliance repair involves electricity, gas, and moving parts. Always disconnect power before working on any appliance.
Error Code: HE Difficulty: Hard
Problem: Heating Error – Dryer isn’t heating as it should.
How to Fix HE Error (Step-by-Step)
- Unplug the dryer from the power outlet and confirm the error stays cleared during a full test cycle.
- Check your home’s circuit breaker box to ensure the breaker dedicated to the dryer is not tripped. Electric dryers use two breakers; ensure both are on.
- Disconnect the vent hose from the back of the dryer and check for any lint buildup or obstructions that could restrict airflow.
- Remove the rear access panel. Locate the heating element and disconnect its wires. Use a multimeter to test for continuity between the terminals. If there is no continuity, the element is faulty and needs to be replaced.
- Find the thermistor/thermostat on the blower housing or heating element housing. Disconnect the wires and test for continuity. An infinite resistance reading indicates a faulty part that needs replacement.
- If the heating components test correctly, the problem could be a faulty connection or a failed main control board.
- Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
