⚠️ Safety Warning: Appliance repair involves electricity, gas, and moving parts. Always disconnect power before working on any appliance.
Error Code: EF1 Difficulty: Easy
Problem: Ventilation Blockage.
How to Fix EF1 Error (Step-by-Step)
- CLEAN THE LINT SCREEN. Pull out the lint screen and thoroughly remove all lint. Wash it with warm, soapy water and a soft brush to remove any fabric softener residue, then let it dry completely.
- CLEAN THE LINT SCREEN HOUSING. Use a long, flexible brush and a vacuum to clean out any lint buildup inside the cavity where the lint screen sits.
- CHECK THE DRYER VENT DUCT. Unplug the dryer and disconnect the vent hose from the back. Check the entire length of the duct for any kinks, clogs, or blockages and clear them out.
- INSPECT THE EXTERIOR VENT CAP. Go outside and ensure the vent cap on the exterior of your house is not blocked by debris, snow, or a stuck flapper. Clear any obstructions.
- CONSIDER THE THERMISTOR. If the error persists after a thorough vent cleaning, the high heat from the blockage may have damaged the thermistor. This part monitors temperature and may need to be replaced.
- Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
- Check for simple blockages (lint screen, drain path, or filter) and clean anything you find.
Still Not Working?
