How to Fix E98 Error (Step-by-Step)
- Disconnect the dryer from the wall outlet to prevent any electrical shock.
- Take off the dryer’s top panel by removing the screws at the back.
- Find the main control board and the separate motor control board. Check the wiring harness that runs between these two boards.
- Carefully inspect the connection points on both boards for any loose, burnt, or disconnected wires. Reseat the connectors firmly.
- If the connections are secure and the error persists, the main control board needs to be replaced. Take a photo of the connections, then disconnect the wires and remove the old board.
- Mount the new main control board and reconnect the wiring harnesses as shown in your photo.
- Put the top panel back on, plug in the dryer, and start a cycle to verify the repair.
- Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
