⚠️ Safety Warning: Appliance repair involves electricity, gas, and moving parts. Always disconnect power before working on any appliance.
Error Code: E18 Difficulty: Moderate
Problem: Output sensor disconnected – The outlet thermistor or wiring to the thermistor is open.
How to Fix E18 Error (Step-by-Step)
- Ensure the dryer is completely disconnected from the power supply by unplugging it.
- Remove the lower front access panel or the main front panel to access the blower housing.
- Locate the outlet thermistor (part 5304513591) on the blower housing. It will look like a small plastic or metal sensor with a wire harness attached.
- Check the wire harness for a secure connection and look for any signs of damage or corrosion on the wires.
- Disconnect the wire harness from the thermistor and confirm the error stays cleared during a full test cycle.
- Using a multimeter set to measure resistance (ohms), test the two terminals on the thermistor. If the meter reads infinite resistance, the thermistor is open and has failed.
- If the thermistor is bad, unscrew it from the blower housing and install the new one, then reconnect the wiring and reassemble the dryer.
- Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
