How to Fix E2 Error (Step-by-Step)

  1. Turn off the power to the dishwasher at the circuit breaker.
  2. Shut off the hot water supply valve, typically located under the kitchen sink.
  3. To access the heating element, you will need to pull the dishwasher out and carefully tilt it on its back.
  4. Locate the heating element at the bottom of the dishwasher tub. It is a circular metal tube.
  5. Disconnect the electrical wires from the two terminals on the element. Use pliers if they are tight.
  6. Remove the two nuts securing the element to the tub and gently pry the old element out.
  7. Insert the new heating element, making sure the rubber gaskets seal tightly. Re-secure the nuts, reconnect the wires, and carefully set the dishwasher upright.
  8. Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
