Problem: Freezer compartment temperature sensor fault – out of range reading
How to Fix Refrigerator Error
- Unplug refrigerator and remove all frozen food from freezer compartment.
- Locate temperature sensor behind rear wall panel in freezer section (typically near evaporator coils).
- Remove shelves/baskets and unscrew rear wall panel to access evaporator assembly.
- Disconnect sensor connector (usually white 2-wire connector near evaporator coils).
- Measure resistance with multimeter at freezer temperature (0°F/-18°C): should read approximately 25kΩ.
- Warm sensor in hand to 77°F/25°C – resistance should decrease to approximately 5kΩ.
- If resistance is infinite (open circuit) or zero (shorted), replace sensor WPW
- Inspect sensor mounting clip – must be securely attached to evaporator tubing (loose mounting causes False readings).
- Check wiring harness for damage near evaporator fan where vibration occurs.
- After replacement, verify freezer temperature stabilizes at 0°F within 4 hours of operation.
Still Not Working?
If the replacement part didn’t fix the issue, you may have a wiring problem or main board failure.
