How to Fix Refrigerator Error
- Unplug refrigerator and remove all food from fresh food compartment.
- Locate evaporator fan assembly (typically behind rear wall panel in refrigerator section on French door models).
- Remove shelves and unscrew rear wall panel to access fan motor.
- Manually spin fan blade – should rotate freely without binding (ice buildup may prevent movement).
- Thaw any ice accumulation on fan blade using hair dryer on low setting.
- Disconnect fan wiring harness and measure resistance across motor terminals (should read 50-150 ohms).
- Verify correct voltage reaches fan connector during cooling cycle (12V DC or 120V AC depending on model).
- Inspect fan motor bearings for excessive play or grinding noise when rotated.
- Check wiring harness for damage near evaporator where moisture causes corrosion.
- If motor resistance is infinite or fan doesn’t run with power applied, replace evaporator fan motor WPW
- After replacement, verify proper airflow from refrigerator vents.
