Problem: Exhaust thermistor circuit fault (older models); sensor open/shorted or wiring failure
How to Fix Dryer Error
- UNPLUG dryer from electrical power.
- Remove rear service panel to access blower housing assembly.
- Locate exhaust thermistor mounted on blower housing near exhaust duct. Disconnect wiring harness.
- Measure resistance across sensor terminals with multimeter at room temperature. Expected value: approximately 10kΩ (±10%).
- If reading is infinite (open circuit) or near zero (shorted), replace thermistor.
- Remove mounting screw securing sensor. Gently extract thermistor from housing well.
- Clean mounting well with isopropyl alcohol. Apply thermal conductive paste to tip of new sensor.
- Install replacement thermistor using OEM part DC34-00040A. Secure mounting screw to 6 in-lbs torque. Route wiring away from heat sources and moving parts.
- Reconnect harness. Reinstall panels. Restore power and run timed dry cycle while verifying temperature display updates accurately.
Still Not Working?
If the replacement part didn’t fix the issue, you may have a wiring problem or main board failure.
