Problem: Alternate representation of exhaust thermistor fault; identical failure mode to tE code
How to Fix Dryer Error
- UNPLUG dryer from electrical power source.
- Remove rear service panel to expose blower assembly and sensor locations.
- Identify exhaust thermistor mounted on blower housing adjacent to exhaust duct. Disconnect electrical connector.
- Using multimeter in resistance mode, measure thermistor value at room temperature. Reference service manual specifications (typically ~10kΩ at 77°F).
- If measurement shows open circuit, short circuit, or significant deviation from specifications, proceed with replacement.
- Remove retaining screw. Carefully withdraw old thermistor from mounting well.
- Clean well thoroughly with lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol. Apply small amount of thermal paste to sensing tip of new sensor.
- Install replacement thermistor using OEM part DC34-00040A. Secure mounting screw to 6 in-lbs torque. Ensure wiring is routed clear of fan blades and heat sources.
- Reconnect electrical harness. Reassemble panels. Power on and verify temperature readings update correctly during operation.
Still Not Working?
If the replacement part didn’t fix the issue, you may have a wiring problem or main board failure.
