⚠️ Safety Warning: Appliance repair involves electricity, gas, and moving parts. Always disconnect power before working on any appliance.
Error Code: S Difficulty: Easy
Problem: Indicates the unit is in a periodic test mode.
How to Fix S Error (Step-by-Step)
- Recognize that the ‘S’ code indicates the refrigerator has entered a self-check or test mode. This is often temporary.
- Do not unplug the unit or press any buttons immediately. Wait for 15-20 minutes to see if the test cycle completes on its own and the code disappears.
- Unplug the refrigerator from the wall power outlet or switch off the corresponding circuit breaker in your home’s electrical panel.
- Leave the refrigerator completely without power for at least 5 minutes. This allows the internal computer to fully reset.
- Plug the refrigerator back in or turn the circuit breaker on. The control panel should reboot, and the ‘S’ code should be gone.
- Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
- Check for simple blockages (lint screen, drain path, or filter) and clean anything you find.
