How to Fix E6 Error (Step-by-Step)
- Unplug the refrigerator from the power outlet and confirm the error stays cleared during a full test cycle.
- Locate the door switch along the interior frame of the refrigerator or freezer door.
- Use a plastic putty knife or a flathead screwdriver to gently pry the old switch out of its housing.
- Disconnect the two wires attached to the back of the old switch.
- Connect the wires to the terminals on the new switch.
- Firmly press the new switch into the opening in the frame until it snaps securely into place.
- Plug the refrigerator back in and test the interior light by opening and closing the door.
- Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
