How to Fix E3 Error (Step-by-Step)
- Disconnect the refrigerator from the wall outlet and confirm the error stays cleared during a full test cycle.
- Carefully pull the refrigerator away from the wall to access the rear panel.
- Using a screwdriver or nut driver, remove the screws holding the lower rear access panel in place.
- Locate the condenser fan motor, which is near the compressor at the bottom of the refrigerator.
- Unplug the wire harness connected to the fan motor and confirm the error stays cleared during a full test cycle.
- Remove the screws that mount the fan motor and its bracket to the refrigerator frame. You may also need to slide a fan blade off the motor shaft.
- Install the new condenser fan motor, reattach the fan blade, secure it with the mounting screws, reconnect the wiring, and replace the rear access panel.
- Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
