How to Fix E23 Error (Step-by-Step)

1. Locate the water filter. It is typically in the upper right-hand corner of the fresh food compartment or in the base grille at the bottom.
2. If the filter has a push-button release, press it to eject the old filter. If it’s a twist-in model, turn it counter-clockwise about a quarter turn to release it.
3. Pull the old filter straight out. A small amount of water may drip out.
4. Remove the protective cap from the new filter and align it with the filter housing.
5. Push the new filter in firmly until it clicks into place, or twist it clockwise until it locks.
6. Run about two gallons of water through the dispenser to flush the new filter and clear any air from the lines.
7. Press and hold the ‘Filter Reset’ button on the control panel for three seconds to reset the indicator light.
8. Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
