How to Fix E10 Error (Step-by-Step)
- Completely disconnect the refrigerator from the power supply and confirm the error stays cleared during a full test cycle.
- Empty the freezer compartment and remove the interior back panel to get to the evaporator coils.
- Identify the defrost heater, which looks like a glass tube or a metal-sheathed rod located at the bottom of the evaporator coils.
- Carefully disconnect the two wire leads that are attached to the ends of the old heater element.
- Unfasten any clips or brackets that are holding the heater in place and gently remove it.
- Install the new defrost heater, making sure it is secured by the same clips or brackets.
- Reconnect the wire leads, reattach the freezer panel, and plug the refrigerator back in.
- Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
