How to Fix F5E1 Error (Step-by-Step)

For your safety, switch off the dishwasher’s circuit breaker in your home’s electrical panel.
Open the dishwasher door. You will see a series of screws along the perimeter of the inner door panel.
Using a Torx screwdriver, remove all of these screws to separate the inner panel from the outer door.
The door switch (Part WPW10274880) is located near the top, as part of the latch mechanism. Unplug its wire connector.
Press the small plastic tabs holding the old switch in place and pull it out of its housing.
Snap the new switch into place, reconnect the wire harness, and reassemble the door.
Restore power and run a test cycle and confirm the error stays cleared during a full test cycle.
Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
