Problem: The ice maker is not working. The control board isn’t getting a signal from the ice maker motor or sensor. The entire ice maker assembly usually needs to be swapped out.
How to Fix Er IM Error

- UNPLUG refrigerator from electrical power.
- Remove ice bin and locate ice maker assembly in freezer compartment.
- Release mounting screws securing ice maker. Disconnect wiring harness connector.
- Inspect harness and connector for frost buildup, corrosion, or bent pins. Clean with isopropyl alcohol and soft brush.
- Test ice maker module continuity per service manual specifications using multimeter.
- If module tests faulty or shows physical damage (cracked housing, burnt spots), replace assembly using OEM part W
- Connect new harness securely. Align mounting tabs and secure with screws.
- Reinstall ice bin. Restore power. Initiate ice maker test cycle per model instructions to verify harvest cycle and communication.
