How to Fix F17 Error (Step-by-Step)
- Unplug the dryer from the wall outlet and shut off the water supply valve that feeds the dryer’s steam function. Have a bucket and towel ready.
- Disconnect the water inlet hose from the back of the dryer. Some water may spill out.
- Remove the screws holding the dryer’s top panel in place, then slide the panel back and lift it off to access the water inlet valve just inside the back panel.
- Carefully unplug the electrical wire harness connected to the valve solenoid. Then, use pliers to release the clamp on the internal hose and slide the hose off the valve.
- Remove the mounting screws that secure the old water valve to the dryer’s frame and lift the old valve out.
- Install the new water valve, securing it with the mounting screws. Reconnect the internal hose with its clamp and plug in the electrical wire harness.
- Re-install the top panel, reconnect the main water supply hose to the back of the dryer, and turn the water supply back on. Plug the dryer in and run a steam cycle to check for leaks and proper operation.
- Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
