How to Fix E44 Error (Step-by-Step)
- Disconnect the washer from the electrical supply and confirm the error stays cleared during a full test cycle.
- The door closing sensor is integrated into the door lock assembly. The entire unit must be replaced. Open the washer door.
- Use a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry off the outer wire hoop that secures the door’s rubber gasket.
- Peel the gasket back from the chassis around the door lock area.
- Remove the screws holding the door lock assembly to the front panel.
- Disconnect the electrical plug from the assembly and remove it.
- Install the new assembly by connecting the plug, screwing the unit back onto the front panel, and re-securing the rubber gasket with its wire hoop.
- Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
