How to Fix E23 Error (Step-by-Step)

  1. Disconnect the dishwasher from the electrical supply at the circuit breaker.
  2. Shut off the water supply and disconnect the water inlet and drain hoses.
  3. Pull the dishwasher out from its installation and lay it on its back to access the components underneath.
  4. Locate the drain pump. It is a smaller pump, separate from the main circulation pump.
  5. Unplug the wire connector to the pump and release the clamps on the hoses to detach them. Be prepared to catch any remaining water.
  6. Remove the old drain pump, which is often held in place by a few screws or a twisting lock mechanism.
  7. Install the new drain pump, reconnect the hoses and wiring, and if the problem persists after reassembly and testing, the main control module may also need to be replaced.
  8. Turn the appliance off, wait about 2 minutes, then turn it back on.
