Problem: Heating element / circuit failure
How to Fix HE2 Error
- Disconnect the washer from power and water.
- Access the heating element, usually from the front or back depending on the model. For front access, remove the top, control, and front panels.
- If accessing from the back, remove the rear panel.
- Locate the heating element at the base of the outer tub. Take a photo of the wire connections.
- Disconnect the electrical wires from the element terminals.
- Loosen the 10mm nut in the center of the element’s base. Push the bolt in to release the internal pressure clamp.
- Carefully pry and pull the old element out of the tub. It may be tight.
- Slide the new heating element into the slot, making sure the bracket inside the tub is correctly aligned.
- Tighten the retaining nut to expand the seal and secure the element, then reconnect the wires.
- Reassemble the panels and test the machine.
