How to Fix HE2 Error

  1. Disconnect the washer from power and water.
  2. Access the heating element, usually from the front or back depending on the model. For front access, remove the top, control, and front panels.
  3. If accessing from the back, remove the rear panel.
  4. Locate the heating element at the base of the outer tub. Take a photo of the wire connections.
  5. Disconnect the electrical wires from the element terminals.
  6. Loosen the 10mm nut in the center of the element’s base. Push the bolt in to release the internal pressure clamp.
  7. Carefully pry and pull the old element out of the tub. It may be tight.
  8. Slide the new heating element into the slot, making sure the bracket inside the tub is correctly aligned.
  9. Tighten the retaining nut to expand the seal and secure the element, then reconnect the wires.
  10. Reassemble the panels and test the machine.
