How to Fix Samsung Washer Error HE1

Problem: Heating element / circuit failure

How to Fix HE1 Error

  1. Unplug the washer and shut off the water supply.
  2. For front-load models, the heater is accessed from the front. Remove the top panel, then the control panel and dispenser.
  3. Carefully peel back the door boot seal after removing its retaining wire.
  4. Remove the screws securing the front panel, including those in the filter housing area, and detach the panel.
  5. The heating element is located at the bottom of the tub. Disconnect the wires.
  6. Use a 10mm socket to loosen the retaining nut on the heater, then push the bolt inwards to release the element and pull it out.
  7. Insert the new heating element into the tub, ensuring it is seated correctly, and tighten the nut to secure it.
  8. Reconnect the wires to the new element.
  9. Reassemble the front panel, door seal, control panel, and top panel in reverse order.
