How to Fix 8E1 Error

  1. Unplug the washer from the power outlet.
  2. For a front-load washer, remove the screws holding the top panel and lift it off. For a top-load washer, you may need to tilt the machine backward to access the sensor on the bottom of the tub.
  3. Locate the MEMS sensor. On front-loaders, it’s typically on the top or side of the outer tub. On top-loaders, it’s on the bottom.
  4. Disconnect the wire harness connected to the sensor by pressing the locking tab.
  5. Remove the two Phillips screws that mount the sensor to the tub.
  6. Position the new MEMS sensor, ensuring it is aligned correctly, and secure it with the two screws.
  7. Reconnect the wire harness, making sure it clicks into place.
  8. Reassemble the top panel or carefully set the washer upright.
  9. Plug the washer back in and run a test cycle.
