How to Fix LG Washer Error HE

⚠️ Safety Warning: Appliance repair involves electricity, gas, and moving parts. Always disconnect power before working on any appliance.

Error Code: HE Difficulty: Moderate

Problem: Heater error – temporary heating element malfunction

How to Fix HE Error

  1. Disconnect the washer from power at the circuit breaker. This involves working with heating components.
  2. Access the heater assembly, usually from the bottom front or rear of the washer.
  3. First, test the thermistor (temperature sensor) on the heater assembly for resistance (typically around 12,000-30,000 ohms at room temp, but check your model’s specs). If it fails, replace it.
  4. If the thermistor is good, test the heating element itself for continuity. An open circuit (infinite ohms) means the element is burned out and the entire heater assembly needs replacement.
  5. Replace the faulty component, reassemble, and check for leaks before restoring power.
