Error Code: AE Difficulty: Moderate
Problem: Leak detected (front-load) OR gear/auto-restart error (top-load) – meaning varies by washer type
How to Fix AE Error
- The meaning of this code depends on your washer type. Unplug the washer first.
- For FRONT-LOAD washers, it’s a leak error. Check the drain pump filter for a loose cap. Inspect all hoses for visible leaks. If no leak is found, the leak sensor at the base of the machine may be faulty or has detected a small internal drip.
- For TOP-LOAD washers, it’s a gear/clutch error. This indicates a mechanical failure in the drive system and typically requires replacement of the clutch assembly, which is a major repair.
