How to Fix 40E Error

UNPLUG THE REFRIGERATOR. This error indicates a problem with the fan motor in the ice compartment.
You will need to remove the ice bucket and the entire ice maker assembly to access the fan, which is typically located behind it.
Check the fan for ice obstructions. If it’s frozen, use a hairdryer on a low setting to thaw it completely.
If the fan is clear of ice, check its wire harness. If the wiring is good, the fan motor has failed and needs to be replaced.
