⚠️ Safety Warning: Appliance repair involves electricity, gas, and moving parts. Always disconnect power before working on any appliance.
Error Code: Dryer Difficulty: Moderate
Problem: Heater sub-code HC2: Short circuit in thermistor causing incorrect temperature readings
How to Fix Dryer Error
- UNPLUG dryer from electrical power.
- Remove rear access panel to access blower housing assembly.
- Locate exhaust thermistor mounted on blower housing. Disconnect wiring harness.
- Measure resistance across thermistor terminals with multimeter at room temperature. Expected value: approximately 10kΩ.
- If resistance reads near zero ohms (shorted) or fluctuates erratically, replace sensor.
- Remove mounting screw securing thermistor. Gently extract sensor from housing well.
- Clean mounting well with isopropyl alcohol. Apply thermal conductive paste to tip of new sensor.
- Install new thermistor using OEM part DC34-00040A. Secure mounting screw to 6 in-lbs torque. Route wiring away from heat sources.
- Reconnect harness. Reassemble panels. Restore power and run timed dry cycle while verifying temperature display updates smoothly and accurately.
