⚠️ Safety Warning: Appliance repair involves electricity, gas, and moving parts. Always disconnect power before working on any appliance.
Error Code: Dryer Difficulty: Hard
Problem: Heater current fault; abnormal current draw during heating cycle indicating short circuit or element failure
How to Fix Dryer Error
- UNPLUG dryer from electrical power. Allow 45 minutes for heating components to cool completely.
- Remove rear access panel to expose heater assembly and wiring.
- Disconnect electrical wires from heater terminals. Label connections for reassembly.
- Test heater element resistance with multimeter: proper reading 10-30Ω. Zero resistance indicates short circuit.
- Inspect wiring harness near heater connections for melted insulation, burn marks, or evidence of arcing. Repair damaged sections.
- Replace faulty heater assembly using OEM part DC97-15010A: remove mounting screws, extract old unit, clean heating chamber thoroughly, install new assembly with fresh gasket, torque screws evenly to 12 in-lbs.
- Verify thermal fuse continuity mounted on heater housing. Replace if open circuit.
- Reconnect wiring securely. Reinstall panels. Restore power and run timed dry cycle while monitoring for proper heating and absence of burning smells or error recurrence.
